Better Public Safey For All
During my first term in office I was part of several exciting public safety initiatives:

• Chaired the Public Health & Safety Committee
• Sat on the Police Chief Search Committee, and hosted a series of five public listening sessions for the public to share the qualities and expectations they have for the next Chief of Police
• Aided in selecting Minneapolis's first Commissioner of Public Safety
• Secured $1 million in funding from the 2023 and 2024 Budgets for Community Safety Partnerships to reduce violent crime
• Launched the 'Get Lit Minneapolis' Campaign for improved street lighting on the Northside and secured $300,000 in funding from the 2023 budget for lighting improvements on the Northside

In my next term I am looking forward to working with the Chief of Police, the Commissioner of Pubic Safety, the Mayor, as well as my colleagues to:

• Hire more police officers and investigators
• Recruit more police officers from the community
• Continue to invest in street lighting infrastructure
• Invest in traffic control
Increase and Support Existing Northside Economic Development
It is no secret that the Northside looks different from the rest of the City in terms of development. We have made many strides in the last couple years, but there is still a lot of work to do. Northside residents should have equal access to the essentials as well as dining, shopping, and entertainment options while still being able to afford housing.

In my next term I will:
• Continue to support and advocate at the City-level for existing development projects bringing new jobs to North Minneapolis
• Encourage small business ownership and partner with community organizations already doing great work to help entrepreneurs of color access training, capital, and other technical and financial resources.
• Work with local entrepreneurs and community organizations to promote investments in food service and grocery businesses to reduce the number of residents without easy access to the essentials.
• Generate investments that reduce the number of vacant Northside buildings including strategic use of city grants, subsidies, or purchases if economically justified.
• Continue to prioritize the preservation of existing and creation of new affordable housing with a focus on those making 30-60% of AMI and with a special emphasis on units serving those at or below 30% of AMI (deep subsidy units).

Increase Livability in Our Neighborhoods
Keeping our city clean and running smoothly is a core duty of local government. It is frustrating for residents to pay significant property taxes and rent but feel like basic neighborhood needs aren’t being met.

I pledge that my office will continue to be responsive and help resolve livability issues like:
• Illegal dumping
• Inadequately plowed streets and alleys
• Problem properties
• Graffiti
• Illegal parking
• Littering

Invest in Public Health Initiatives
Right now our community is facing an opioid crisis. You cannot walk out your front door without seeing the devastating effects it is having on our families.

In my next term in office I will continue to :
• Find solutions to the root problems of the opioid epidemic
• Invest in culturally competent treatment
• Ensure the availability of narcan and community trainings on how to use it
